About

Brian Corey – South Miami Commissioner Group III

Commissioner Brian Corey was born in the city of South Miami and has served as City Commission, and formerly as Representative for the Miami-Dade County League of Cities for South Miami and liaison for the US1 Corridor Homelessness Coalition. He is the father of three small South Miamians: Alice, Dylan and Etta and the husband of his incredible wife Casey. As a former owner of an advertising agency for ten years, Brian honed his professional skills on both his branding and marketing craft, as well as business skills and finance for ten years before successfully selling it in 2023.

As Commissioner, Brian has focused fiscal responsibility approving a balanced budget every year. The consistent growth in residential and commercial property tax allowed for a healthy surplus and reserve while cutting taxes two years in a row while investing in much needed improvements to public spaces, infrastructure and our town center. With the right planning and execution, Brian plans to continue to reduce taxes while promoting stronger revenue generation from Commercial tax and other services connected to activating our town center.

While in office, Brian has taken initiative on homelessness, creating the first multi-year strategic plan for addressing homelessness while balancing service and enforcement. He has also focused on activating and beautifying public spaces, building parks and activations on unused land and further developing existing parks and programming. Among Brian’s top priorities remains bringing more business to our town center as this provides more revenue to the city to re-invest in city services, parks, police and more. Brian also has a passion for helping families in need and building community in South Miami, that’s why he created the first municipal sensory room in South Dade which has regular programming for neurodivergent children and has added universal playground equipment to nearly every park in the city for children with disabilities.
